Nepenthes truncata (C) - Giant EP

Nepenthes truncata (C) is a giant form of the species bred by Exotica Plants in Australia. N. truncata is a classic lowland species from the Philippines. It gets it's name from the squared-off or truncated leaves. This species is very popular amongst growers and it can produce giant pitchers well over 12 inches. These plants can grow to be well over 5 feet in diameter, however they are more of a compact grower and rarely vine. Nepenthes truncata is considered lowland, but we find they grow best in intermediate conditions and the leaves will spot-up if they are kept too warm and bright.

This plant prefers Intermediate/lowland conditions.  It should be kept between 80-85F , with nights no lower than 60F.  Nepenthes can acclimate to lower humidity levels, although the best results will be seen with a relative humidity around 80%. Bright, indirect light and pure water.

Nepenthes are primarily native to Southeast Asia.  There are roughly 180 species, with many recently discovered in the 20th century. They grow anywhere from hot, sticky jungles to chill mountain tops high above the clouds. Tho Nepenthes were once thought to be difficult to grow, this is far from the truth. Most plants have adapted to cultivation quite well and the hobby is growing quickly. In fact, most tropical pitcher plants species and hybrids will thrive indoors between 60 and85 degrees Fahrenheit.
